Acts 19:1-7 "Paul's ministry in Ephesus, part 1"
Good morning all. Our service today will be led by Ellen with the assistance of Jan, Ian, Katie and Gladys and Alan will be bringing us the “Word”.
Before Ellen leads the adults in worship (which the children are also very welcome to join in with), we will be having bible teaching for our young people (which the adults may also benefit from!) from Katie & Jan. We will also be sharing a testimony from Justin Beiber, the Canadian singer-songwriter whose life has been transformed by Jesus.
The bible story this morning is taken from “50 GORIEST BIBLE STORIES” by Andy Robb, published by CWR. Copyright © 2009 Andy Robb.
God wasn’t fooled by Cain and told him his wickedness was going to be punished. Head to the book of Genesis chapter 4 and read verses 11 to 16 to discover precisely how Cain was punished. Then get your parent or carers or one of the adults that you live with to email me the answer to email@example.com Don’t forget anyone who takes part in this challenge will get a prize at the end of the month.
From everlasting, to everlasting, You are God.
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
In holiness You stand secure, Through culture’s shifting sands,
Unchanged by all the vanities of man. And as the nations rise and fall
Your sovereignty remains. You are, You are,
You are the one true God.
In faithfulness Your love extends, Through times of turbulence,
Adopting those who call upon Your name.
And every generation joins, In songs of grateful praise.
You are, You are, You are the one true God.
Eternal, (Eternal) Immortal, (Immortal) Invisible (Invisible) God.
Your grace is enough, more than I need, At Your word I will believe I wait for You, draw near again, Let Your Spirit make me new
And I will fall at Your feet, I will fall at Your feet,
And I will worship You here. And I will fall at Your feet I will fall at Your feet, And I will worship You here, oh Lord Your presence in me, Jesus light the way By the power of Your word, I am restored,
I am redeemed, By Your Spirit I am free
And I will fall at Your feet, I will fall at Your feet And I will worship You here, oh Lord
Freely You gave it all for us, Surrendered Your life upon that cross
Great is the love poured out for all, This is our God
Lifted on high from death to life, Forever our God is glorified
Servant and King rescued the world, This is our God
You turn night, into day, in your light all is grace, So we cry , once again, Spirit fall on everyone Come like you promise, Come like the rain Come Lord Jesus, come fill our hearts again Hope for all, young and old, none too lost to be known Here with you, we are home, spirit fall on everyone. Come like you promise, come like the rain Come Lord Jesus, come fill our hearts again Whoever calls upon your name Will know your love and be saved
WHAT GOOD IS IT TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD But lose your soul. What good is it to make a sweet sound. But remain proud. In view of God’s mercy, I offer my all.
And take my life – let it be, Everything, all of me. Here I am – use me for Your glory. In everything I say and do, Let my life honour You.Here I am, living for Your glory.
The road I’m on, it leads nowhere. Without You. And the life I lead, it finds meaning. In surrender. And take my life – let it be, Everything, all of me. Here I am – use me for Your glory. In everything I say and do, Let my life honour You. Here I am, living for Your glory. Seeking first the kingdom, Seeking first the kingdom of my Lord.
Prayers - Gladys is leading us in prayer today.
Our loving heavenly father we come to you with many thoughts and prayers on our minds. We are glad we can bring them to you. Thoughts always go to the persecuted Christians in so many countries and we lift them to you today. We pray for those in Libya where the persecution is great and the civil war continues. Father we would pray for an end to the war and that the international community will work towards peace in that country. I was reading also of war in Somalia and once again prayer is needed and in so many more countries also. We thank you for all the people who are led to work in the Christian organisations to help these needy ones wherever possible. We pray for them and for your protection upon them. They are your hands and feet and voice to these dear ones, so many of these countries have been struck with Covid, this adds to their burden, of course. We are mindful and so grateful for our NHS and we pray for all our doctors and nurses and carers and all who contribute to the running of our hospitals and nursing homes. We pray for all who have lost loved ones due to Covid. One of our ladies in BREAD has lost her husband and we share a little of her sadness. She is now in hospital herself. We do pray that the vaccination will have the desired effect and reduce the horrifying death toll. We thank you for the skill of the scientists who have worked so hard to achieve this. We pray for our Government and Prime Minister, he has had such difficult decisions to make so we ask for wisdom for him. Lord we pray for our police force and fire service and all our teachers, their job has become so complex due to the situation at present. Thinking of teachers we pray for all children and ask that they will all bounce back after the traumas they've had to endure. We are very aware of the children's work that is carried out in our church fellowship and we pray for those who faithfully continue it. I'm sure you do bless them for their commitment and dedication. We pray for our church as a whole and look forward to when we gather together again. We pray for all those who have been unwell of late and pray that they have felt your presence with them. Once again we thank you for your healing hand upon Vicky, she tells me she feels stronger day by day. We continue to pray for Pastor Lilian in Uganda and her ladies, thinking particularly of Lydia who so recently has given her heart to Jesus and now works with Pastor Lilian and is such a help. In conclusion Dear Lord we lift all our families to you today, so many we are longing to see. Be with them and with us until that day. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
From Ian - I pray that the Lord will bless us with the message brought by Alan today. Oh Lord open our hearts and make us grow deeper in love with you. Amen.
1What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer, There is no more for heaven now to give He is my joy my righteousness and freedom, My steadfast love my deep and boundless peace. To this I hold my hope is only Jesus, For my life is wholly bound to his Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine Yet not I but through Christ in me
2The night is dark but I am not forsaken, For by my side the Saviour he will stay I labour on in weakness and rejoicing, For in my need his power is displayed To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me, Through the deepest valley he will lead Oh the night has been won and I shall overcome, Yet not I but through Christ in me
3 No fate I dread I know I am forgiven, The future sure the price it has been paid For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon, And he was raised to overthrow the grave, To this I hold my sin has been defeated Jesus now and ever is my plea, Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free Yet not I but through Christ in me
4 With every breath I long to follow Jesus, For he has said that he will bring me home And day by day I know he will renew me, Until I stand with joy before the throne To this I hold my hope is only Jesus All the glory evermore to him When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat Yet not I but through Christ in me
1And now the weak say I have strength By the spirit of power that raised Christ from the dead And now the poor stand and confess That my portion is Him and I'm more than blessed Let now our hearts burn with a flame A fire consuming all for your Son's holy name And with the heavens we declare You are our king, We love you Lord, we worship you You are our God, you alone are good 2 Let now Your church shine as your bride That you saw in your heart as You offered up Your Life Let now the lost be welcomed home By the saved and redeemed, those adopted as Your own Let now our hearts burn with a flame A fire consuming all for your Son's holy name And with the heavens we declare You are our king, We love you Lord, we worship you You are our God, you alone are good You asked your Son to carry this, The heavy cross, our weight of sin I love you Lord, I worship you Hope which was lost, now stands renewed. I give my life to honour this The love of Christ, the Saviour King
From Ian - Although we sang the next song just after Alan's sermon I thought I would copy the link so that you can hear it again sung by 'City Alight'. It is a wonderful song and I am sure we will sing it again when we meet face to face in the Community Centre. God bless you all - Ian
