The services on 19 and 25 December and 2 January will take place at Hayling Library.

There will be no service on 26 December.

26:29 Sermon

1 Why did the disciples worry about Jesus leaving them?

2 Where was Jesus going to and why did He have to leave the disciples?

3 What is the role of the Holy Spirit in the world? What does it mean for Him to be our helper? In what ways is the Holy Spirit help us?

4 The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to point to Jesus. How does the Holy Spirit work through the church to reveal Jesus to an unbelieving world.

Unfortunately there was a technical problem that prevented the prayers being recorded. Here is the text of the prayers:

Lord, we thank you for this lovely sunny morning: for the colours of bronze, gold and deep red on the way to church; for the robin singing in the trees as we woke up; and for the chance to meet up again - either in person or through the internet. We praise you for your beautiful creation, Lord. We pray for the world. Lord, we have been seeing migrants stuck on the Belarus/ Poland border - cold and hungry. Please help them find shelter, warmth and food and a new home soon Lord. may you give them strength as they carry on their journey. We pray for calm in America, after the ruling on Kyle Rittenhouse, and calm in Rotterdam, before their lockdown on Monday. We pray for the rising cases of Covid in Europe, for the doctors and nurses, ambulance drivers, and all carers, who will be very busy over the coming weeks and months - may you give them strength and peace. Lord, we think closer to home, to the folk of Hayling Island. We pray for Sarah and David and the team of helpers in Hayling Holiday Lunches - may you bless them in all their tireless endeavours. We pray for the carol service here on 12 December - for Christy, who is working so hard to prepare and all those involved - from singers to those who will put out the chairs. May you speak to all who attend - through the carols, sermon or drama. Lord, we pray for our church: for Richard and Pam the leadership team the music and tech team children's work tea and coffee and welcome team those who put out the chairs Anne, our social Queen Ian, our secretary Terry, our treasurer those who used to help practically but are unable now and all the other things i've forgotten - including those who regularly pray Bless them all Lord - and keep them safe in your loving arms. Lord, we lift to you, those who are struggling in mind, body or spirit - Tracy and her family, Mike and Jean (we thank and praise you that they are here today!), Christy and Nick, and we bring before you now in a moment of silence, those we know personally... Lord - please be with us this week - in everything we do, from the Monday morning blues to the 'ecstasy' of 4:55pm on Friday afternoon - please be with us this week, we pray. Loving Father, we ask that you accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
