The Song of Simeon
The children's service can be found on www.hillsong.co.uk, or go to YouTube: "Hillsong kids online service". It is released each Sunday morning, so do check that it is the most recent post!
WhatsApp bible studies and personal reflection on this week's sermon:
1) "Christ, the indescribable gift" - how does that make you feel when you ponder the significance of Christmas?
2) Why was the witness of this small group of faithful believers so important?
3) Simeon waited patiently, maybe many years for the promise of God to be fulfilled in his life. Are you patiently waiting for something from the Lord? How do you deal with the waiting?
4) God spoke to Simeon because he was just and devout. If we lived lives more obedient to God would we hear his voice more clearly? What things block our channels of communication?
We were aiming to hold our first live service on Sunday 10 January but with the government's latest announcements, we are obviously needing to reconsider. The deacons are praying, listening, watching and discussing the best way forward and will communicate as things unfold. Our next meeting is on 4 January, which gives a bit of time for things to unfold, and we'll aim to update everyone soon after based on where things stand at that point. For now, it looks like we'll all be celebrating a quiet Christmas, so don't be shy in phoning and texting to wish as many people Merry Christmas as you can this week. We're all going to need a bit of cheering up!
