Acts 15: 1-35. Grace or works
Welcome everyone - today Jan, Ian and Steph will be leading us in worship, Ellen will be leading us in prayer and Chris will be bringing the message.
A children's service can be found on www.hillsong.co.uk, or go to YouTube: "Hillsong kids online service". It is released each Sunday morning, so do check that it is the most recent post!
1 Let our praise be Your welcome, Let our songs be a sign
We are here for You, we are here for You
Let Your breath come from heaven, Fill our hearts with Your life
We are here for You, we are here for You
To You our hearts are open, Nothing here is hidden, you are our one desire You alone are holy, only You are worthy, God, let Your fire fall down
2 Let our shout be Your anthem, Your renown fill the skies We are here for You, we are here for You Let Your Word move in power, Let what's dead come to life We are here for You, we are here for You
We welcome You with praise. We welcome You with praise
Almighty God of love, Be welcomed in this place Let every heart adore. Let every soul awake
Almighty God of love. Be welcomed in this place
1 You turn night, into day, in your light all is grace,
So we cry , once again, Spirit fall on everyone
Come like you promise, Come like the rain, Come Lord Jesus, come fill our hearts again
2 Hope for all, young and old, none too lost to be known
Here with you, we are home, spirit fall on everyone.
Whoever calls upon your name, Will know your love and be saved
1 When I call on your name, You answer; When I fall, You are there by my side. You delivered me out of darkness, Now I stand in the hope of new life.
By grace I’m free, You’ve rescued me; All I am is Yours.
I’ve found a love greater than life itself. I’ve found a hope stronger and nothing compares. I once was lost, now I’m alive in You.
2 You’re my God and my firm foundation; It is You whom I’ll trust at all times. I give glory and praise, adoration. To my Saviour who’s seated on high.
Love came down and rescued me, I thank You, I thank You.
I once was blind but now I see, I see You, I see You.
Only by grace can we enter, Only by grace can we stand;
Not by our human endeavour, But by the blood of the Lamb.
Into Your presence You call us, You call us to come.
Into Your presence You draw us, And now by Your grace we come,
Now by Your grace we come.
Lord, if You mark our transgressions, Who would stand?
Thanks to Your grace we are cleansed By the blood of the Lamb.
Lord, would you open our hearts to the message from Chris today so that your word can both guide us and bring us closer to you.

Live versus Online services
As you may be aware, the Leadership team have been discussing how and when we can recommence our church services at the Community Centre. The responses we received from our email about church services indicated that only 50% of you would be happy to return to the community centre with the restrictions we have. We are very aware that you would all love to meet again soon, and we have been trying to work on a way to enable everyone to join in worship together wherever they feel comfortable. If we could broadcast the church service live via the internet (Live Streaming) then this would give us all the opportunity to worship God either at home or at church. This would also enable us to record the Live service and therefore enable you to watch the service at a more convenient time.
Our ‘On Line’ services are popular and we do not want to exclude those who cannot attend. Therefore we ask that you be patient with as we endeavour to set up a Live stream facility at the Community Centre. We will keep you updated.
The Community Centre, due to the COVID crisis, are currently facing financial difficulties. The Leadership team have decided to recommence paying rent to the Community Centre so as to assist them during this difficult time. This opens up the chance for a small team to begin testing live streaming from there too as we'll have renewed use of the facilities. If anyone has concerns regarding this decision, please feel free to contact us.
If you would like to assist us with the costs of these and other initiatives and your normal method of supporting the church was via the offering bags on Sundays, please contact Terry Worrall to make arrangements.
If you would like to contribute to the work of this church, you can do so using the following details:
Hayling Island Baptist Church
Sort code: 53-50-33
If you would like to find out more about how and why Christians donate to churches this article provides relevant scriptures and some interesting history on the topic.
Garden / Video bible studies
If anyone would still like to link in with a group, please contact Sarah or the office so we can assist you in doing so.
As you meet this week, begin by praying for the Holy Spirit to guide your discussion. Then read Acts 15: 1-35 and discuss these questions:
Q1. Do you feel you are still growing in your faith.
Q2. Why do you think its important to share good news stories.
Q3. If you were charged with being a Christian would you have been found guilty.
Q4. What can you see God using you for next.
Love in a Box
Andy and Anne would like to support Love in a Box again this year, especially as many charities are suffering and the gifts in the box bring so much joy to children who would not receive a Christmas present otherwise. The boxes need to be ready for collection by 1 November. If you would like to take part we will drop a leaflet and/or a shoebox off to you if you either call or email us. If you are unable to complete a shoebox but would still like to take part, please donate any of the following: Toothpaste Toothbrushes Flannels Soap Sweets Toys that will fit in a shoebox ie cars, small dolls Colouring books Pens, pencils etc Colouring pencils Note pads Pencil cases Hat Gloves Playing cards Small soft toys When ready, please drop the items/box off with Anne and Andy, or contact them and they will collect it.
Before lockdown we were considering nominees for both Secretary and Treasurer, currently held by members of the Deaconate. However these important roles still need prayerful consideration by you all, and we will be seeking people to fill these roles as soon as we can hold a members meeting/AGM. So please join us in prayer as we listen for who the Lord might be calling to these positions.
Hayling Holiday Lunches - update from Sarah
We have been blessed with the offer of a room (appropriately called the Upper Room!) in the URC to store our HHL food. Whilst we could not have begun and run the project without Sam and Carlton's garage which we have used for the past three years we shall be glad for warmer premises in the winter months and they will of course continue to be part of it. We have decided to make a delivery in the Christmas holidays regardless of whether the voucher scheme will run and so will be glad of donations of tinned food and also nearer the time chocolate/biscuits etc for Christmas. They can be left at our home 18 Chichester Avenue and if we are out in the storage box by the side gate. We should like to include an angel in the bags! You may have knitted one for CTOH a couple of years ago - ask Sarah for the pattern if you can knit some - very simple, they take just an hour.
Jenny Owens has some Traidcraft catalogues if anyone would like one - Advent calendars, Christmas cards and the usual food /craft items. Please let Sarah know if you would like one and she will deliver.
