Welcome everyone to Church. This week Ellen and Ian are leading worship, Janet is leading prayers and Richard is bringing us God's word from Acts Acts 17:10-15 - 'The Berean's mindset'.

Worship

1WE STAND AND LIFT UP OUR HANDS, For the joy of the Lord is our strength. We bow down and worship Him now; How great, how awesome is He. And together we sing, Everyone sing:

Holy is the Lord God Almighty; The earth is filled with His glory. Holy is the Lord God Almighty; The earth is filled with His glory, The earth is filled with His glory.

It’s rising up all around, It’s the anthem of the Lord’s renown.

2Be high and lifted up, Be high and lifted up

Be high and lifted up, Jesus, Its you we glorify

It’s you we’re lifting high, Your name be glorified

Hallelujah, hallelujah You are worthy, of our praise

Hallelujah, hallelujah You are worthy, of our praise

3YOUR LOVE, shining like the sun, Pouring like the rain,

Raging like the storm, Refreshing me again. I receive Your love.

Your grace frees me from the past, It purges every sin,

It purifies my heart And heals me from within. I receive Your grace.

Pour over me, Pour over me, Let Your rain flood this thirsty soul.

Pour over me Your waves of love, Pour over me.

I come and lay my burden down Gladly at Your feet,

I'm opening up my heart; Come make this joy complete. I receive Your peace.

Prayers.

Lord, we bring our concerns to you in prayer. We pray for your world… As the song goes: all the world in union, the world is one. Gathering together one mind, one heart, every creed, every colour. Once joined, never apart… We long and pray for this to happen. Lord, we pray for all who work for peace and unity and for all world leaders that they will continue to seek for an end to the suffering caused by war and violence, injustice and inequality, disease, prejudice, poverty and hopelessness. It saddens our heart to see such suffering of your children in the world. You have poured such love into your world… We pray for the worldwide church praising your name in thousand different languages and styles. We pray for the United States of America and lift the new President Elect up to you. We ask that you give him wisdom beyond his own understanding and the courage to choose the right path for his people. We remember and pray for those who have lost their lives as a result of wars past and present - young men and women sent to far-away places, never to return. We honour their courage and cherish their memory. For those injured or disabled, for the innocent people caught up in the conflicts, those grieving loved ones. Comfort and bless them, Lord.

The world about us is changing - things are different, but you never change, Lord. Your love continues… Give us the knowledge that no matter what happens today, or any day, nothing can separate us from you and your love. The song continues: We must face high mountains, must cross rough seas… Living Father, hear our prayers for all who suffer - the sick, the poor, the depressed, the lonely, those who feel overwhelmed, the persecuted, the unemployed and those who grieve.

Your Son came to bring hope and healing, freedom and friendship. Hold them in your arms, so that they may feel the comfort of your nearness and the depth of your everlasting love. We ask you to bless our friends and families and to love them as we love them. Children are a precious gift from God. Lord God, we praise you that you are fully in control of all things. Protect our children and young people. Keep them healthy and help them thrive especially during these difficult times. They have been on a rollercoaster ride - their home life, their school life, their friendships all disrupted by the Pandemic. Hold to them in your hand Lord, keep them safe and build their faith so they can withstand the challenges of life.

We pray especially for Eva as she celebrates her third birthday this week. Be with us in our isolation, be close to us in our distancing, be all that is familiar when all is unfamiliar. May those learning to live a new pattern of life feel you walking beside them. We may not be able to meet together but we can hold each other in prayerful love.

Loving God, as you have blessed us, make us a blessing to your world. Help us to share our love for you and our faith in you with those around us, today and always.

I WILL OFFER UP MY LIFE, In spirit and truth, Pouring out the oil of love, As my worship to You. In surrender I must give my every part; Lord, receive the sacrifice Of a broken heart.

Jesus, what can I give, what can I bring, To so faithful a friend, to so loving a King? Saviour, what can be said, what can be sung, As a praise of Your name For the things You have done? Oh, my words could not tell, not even in part, Of the debt of love that is owed by this thankful heart.

You deserve my every breath For You’ve paid the great cost; Giving up Your life to death, Even death on a cross. You took all my shame away, There defeated my sin, Opened up the gates of heaven, And have beckoned me in.

TO BE IN YOUR PRESENCE, To sit at Your feet,

Where Your love surrounds me, And makes me complete.

This is my desire, O Lord, This is my desire.

This is my desire, O Lord, This is my desire.

To rest in Your presence, Not rushing away;

To cherish each moment, Here I would stay.

Sermon

Here I am, Down on my knees again, Surrendering all, Surrendering all Find me here, Lord as You draw me near, Desperate for You, Desperate for You, I surrender Drench my soul, As mercy and grace unfold, I hunger and thirst, I hunger and thirst.

With arms stretched wide, I know You hear my cry, Speak to me now, Speak to me now

Chorus - I surrender, I surrender, I want to know You more, I want to know You more

Like a rushing wind, Jesus breathe within, Lord have Your way, Lord have Your way in me

Like a mighty storm, Stir within my soul, Lord have Your way, Lord have Your way in me

JESUS, ALL FOR JESUS; All I am and have and ever hope to be.
Jesus, all for Jesus; All I am and have and ever hope to be.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans, I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans, I surrender these into Your hands.
For it’s only in Your will that I am free. For it’s only in Your will that I am free.
Jesus, all for Jesus; All I am and have and ever hope to be.
